Reduce Man Boobs Without Surgery
Gynecosmastia refers to large breast tissue in men coming from the Greek ‘gyne’ for woman and ‘mastos’ for breast. Ancient Greek aside, it is commonly known as man boobs. Man boobs can result from different issues in the body but mostly from either an excess of fat, such as in obese men or from a hormonal imbalance.
Puberty is one of the natural times when man boobs can develop because of natural hormone disruptions. It is not uncommon for boys at puberty to bud small breasts and feel lumps near or under their nipples, but these usually vanish with time. Boys with a little extra weight are more likely to have breast development, but slim and healthy boys can also experience it. No health risks are associated with this adolescent man boob growth, other than the social and psychological pain and stigmatisation that often goes with man boobs. Boys that have man boobs will often isolate themselves from their peer group and avoid social situations that involve taking off their shirt like sports of beach activities.
Other causes of man boobs can come from a hormonal reaction to different types of medications, too much alcohol (especially beer) taking methamphetamines and marijuana and even from illnesses like cancer or liver disease.
There is another epic cause of man boobs which is far more problematic to deal with and can become a permanent problem if left untreated needing surgery to remove the male breast tissue. Anabolic steroids are the big baddies when it comes to leaving behind a nice pair of man boobs on once bulging pecks - they are leading men into epidemic proportions of gynecomastia. Because steroids have such a profound effect on the hormones in your body, they have a far more drastic and fast development of man boobs than natural hormonal problems. Steroid induced man boobs are also far more persistent and hard to get rid of, and some that have been left untreated can require costly (risky, painful, etc) mamoplasty - not something any man wants to go through.
Male breast development is quite a common side effect of steroid use. Steroids really disrupt the balance of testosterone and estrogen in the body, and this is why breasts develop. Steroids stop the body’s natural testosterone production and if a user doesn’t put testosterone back into the body after a cycle of steroids then estrogen will be rampant in the body and feminine hips and breasts will develop. Now that’s not exactly the image that someone taking steroids would want to achieve.
After ceasing steroid use it can still take quite a while for the body to start its testosterone production and in many cases even after hormones are back to normal the breast do budge. Man boobs from steroids are famous for being harder to get rid of than man boobs from other causes.
Of course the best solution is to avoid steroids at all costs, as the other associated risks like shrunken testicles are no more pleasant than flabby man boobs. For those who insist on taking steroids there are drugs available to block estrogen levels in the body and they can help stop man boobs forming. The effects of estrogen blockers are not fully known, so despite the fact they are taken by many bodybuilders, they may have hidden effects potentially more unsettling than man boobs.
There are plenty of ways to try and reduce man boobs, and if you have man boobs and have never used steroids then you are just months away from having a manly toned chest once more, because male breast are totally treatable given the right natural remedies and lifestyle and diet changes. If your man boobs are steroid induced still don’t rush into surgery that may not even cure the problem - it may take a bit more time but natural remedies can still cure your man boobs.
